The Bayside leader reported this week that a least three building sites have been targeted by copper thieves in the past two weeks. Senior Sargent Dale Johnson said a Cheltenham building site was targeted, along with two more in Caulfield and Elsternwick. All three attacks occurred at night.
This vandalism can come at a heavy cost. Not only do the valuable cabling and pipework need to be replaced, but often it needs to be re-installed as well. This can considerably delay construction progress and add yet another burden to the time restrictions most constructions sites have to contend with.
Some simple measures like securing your sites temporary fencing at night, installing motion sensor security lights and a security alarm system can go a long way in helping prevent your project from becoming the next target.
